The theme of superheroes is getting popular day by day, and due to the popularity of superheroes in India, Bollywood has launched a couple of superheroes of its own.
However, it made us think about the characters and movies where common people act like superheroes in Bollywood movies.
The movies have been selected after the filtration that movie characters have done something extraordinary for the country or poor people instead of fighting for personal reasons and revenge.

1. Gabbar is Back (2015)
Akshay Kumar is famous for doing numbers of patriotic films in recent years. Most of his movies are appreciated by fans and critics because the movies evoke patriotism in the audience. Gabbar is a movie in the same vein.
In the movie, Akshay lost his pregnant wife in a building collapse, and then Prof. Aditya Singh Rajput (Akshay Kumar) took an oath to clean the rust in the construction industry.
He started making his team and used the scariest name in the Industry Gabbar. Well, this helps to lessen the terror associated with the name Gabbar among the Indian audience.
2. A Wednesday (2008)
This smash-hit became an iconic movie in the industry. It is a story of a common man who plants bombs in the cities to negotiate 4 terrorists from the government.
Later, it is cleared that he wanted to kill those terrorists.
The movie was gripping and backed by an ensemble cast of actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Anupam Kher, and Jimmy Sheirgil. Later, Hollywood made a remake of the movie titled The Common Man starring Ben Kingsley.
3. Nayak: The Real Hero (2001)
While politics is a central issue nowadays and we often see lots of good and bad things about Indian politics. Anil Kapoor starrer Nayak made everyone believe that a change can be brought in the country if politicians work with honesty.
In the movie, a reporter challenges the Chief Minister and says they are not doing their duty rightfully. In response, he was challenged back to become CM for a day.
4. OMG! Oh My God! (2012)
OMG is an unconventional Bollywood film in many ways, and the performance and comic relief in the movie made it a good watch for everyone.
The story revolves around an atheist Kanji Bhai whose shop falls in a storm. Later, people said it is an act of god and thus his insurance will not recover the loss, then he sued God for his loss.
5. Lagey Raho Munna Bhai (2006)
The second installment of the Munna Bhai series brings another social issue that made us remember the Mahatma Gandhi again.
The story revolves around a gangster who falls in love with a radio jockey, and to impress her, he started following the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi. Munna’s Gandhigiri in the movie was a personal initiative but it then went on to change a lot of lives for good.
6. Rang De Basanti (2006)
Rang De Basanti revolves around a group of friends who were shooting the movie about Indian freedom fighters and then they face an incident when their bosom friend died in a plane crash.
People show their anger to the government saying they have used low-quality manufacturing products and risked people’s life. In the end, they surrender themselves on the radio and get killed.
7. Padman (2018)
Inspired by true events, it shows the story of a caring husband who can do anything for his wife. He finds about periods and offers sanitary pads.
Since pads are pricey in the country, he developed his own machine to make cheaper pads.
8. Bhavesh Joshi
The recently released movie Bhavesh Joshi has been sold as a superhero movie. However, the Harshvardhan Kapoor starrer movie follows a story of a common man who wears the mask and lives the life of a vigilante superhero as well.
9. Mr. India
Well, you can count it as an exception to the list. Well, Mr. India can be considered as the superhero movie as he has the gadget to disappear.
However, remember the climax scene of the movie, Anil Kapoor said, Bogambo would fight a common man and not Mr. India.
Before anyone came to play a common man superhero, Amitabh Bachchan had already done that back in 1988. He was a weak corrupt cop in the day and vigilante superhero in the night with the beard and iron forearms.
