1. Queen

One of the best movies in Kangana Ranaut’s career was first offered to Kareena Kapoor. In an interview, she said, ‘In the last five months, I think I have said no to six movies because I don’t want to do anything that’s not great.’

Well, Queen became the groundbreaking film in Bollywood, and Kangana became the talk of the town after her stellar performance in the movie. 

2.  Ram-Leela 

Kareena was the first choice of Sanjay Leela Bhansali opposite Ranveer Singh in Ram-Leela. She even did the look and costume trial for the film.

Later she turned down the project saying that she didn’t like the character of Leela. 

3. Black

Kareena Kapoor was approached by the director to play the lead character in Black. Kareena turned down the project due to her busy schedule.

Later the movie won two national awards and was also included in the 10 best movies of the years worldwide by Time Magazine. 

4. Dil Dhadakne Do

The real Kapoor brother and sister were approached to play Kabir Mehra and Ayesha Mehra. Ranbir and Kareena both turn down the role.

Later Kareena said, “It’s my loss because I love Zoya, but couldn’t be part of her film. I am dying to work with her. I hope this is not the last film Zoya made. Whenever she has a role for me, I’ll definitely do it.”

5. Chennai Express

It was rumored that Kareena Kapoor will feature opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express. It was said that Kareena turned down the project because of her busy shooting schedule.

However, Rohit said, he didn’t approach Kareena because Kareena knew what he was making. 

6. Shuddhi

Shuddhi is the much-talked film probably because the original cast was Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor. Now the cast was changed to Varun and Alia, but the movie is still in the pre-production process.

Kareena told, “I have left Shuddhi, I am not part of it anymore. I am not at all disheartened about it. The delay of Bombay Samurai gave me more time for myself. I am married now and I am not running a relay marathon now.”

7. Fashion

Madhur Bhandarkar wanted to make the fashion movie with Kareena Kapoor in the lead role. Kareena turned down the offer and later Priyanka Chopra signed the movie to play the lead role. The movie was a big hit.

Later Kareena signed the movie Heroine by taking a big chunk of money from producers. The movie did average business at the Box office. 

8. Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai

Kareena was signed to play the part of Sonia in the movie. It was supposed to be the debut film of both Kareena Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan.

She even shot a few scenes in the movie but then she left the project and makers replaced her with newcomer Ameesha Patel. The movie was a blockbuster hit and Ameesha Patel became a Bollywood sensation overnight. 

9. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam

Just like Madhur Bhandarkar, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali also wanted to cast Kareena Kapoor in his movies. One of his best films Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was first offered to Kareena Kapoor.

However, things didn’t work well and Kareena left the project. Later Aishwarya Rai played the character of Nandini in the movie. 

10. Kal Ho Na Ho

The role of Naina was offered to Kareena Kapoor. Many rumors explain why Kareena rejected the role.

However, in Karan Johar’s biography, he mentioned the incident when Kareena was asking the amount as Shah Rukh was getting for the movie, irrespective of the fact that Kareena had started her career and Shah Rukh was already an established star. Later, Kareena apologized for her behavior. 

Another rumor is Kareena wanted Karan Johar to direct the movie as she was not sure to work with Nikhil Advani. Either way, Kareena Kapoor’s decision harmed the relationship between Kareena Kapoor and Karan Johar.
