Iconic Bollywood Scenes We Still Remember From The 90s

We grew up watching movies and believing that one day we might become movie gods. But what inspired us? What was so cool about the movies?

It was songs, or action, or just characters? To be honest, it was scenes, which filled our minds with a lot of good memories.

The 90s have been awesome when movies used to be larger than life. Most of the movies are filled with whistling dialogues, soulful songs, and characters with grey shade.

Let’s revisit the memory lane once again and recall some best scenes from the Bollywood movies of the 90s.

1. 1990 – Agneepath – “Waqt pe pahuchne ka apna purana aadat hai”

Agneepath was a multi-starrer movie with Amitabh Bachchan and Mithun Chakraborty. The iconic dialogue “Waqt pe pahuchne ka apna purana aadat hai” became the punchline for kids and they often quote it.

It was the scene when Vijay meets Kancha at the shore.

2. 1991 – Lamhe – The medley song

The concept of medley became popular after it was used in the movie Lamhe starring Anil Kapoor and Sridevi.

The movie got mixed reviews from fans and critics. The medley song where actors were dancing on old songs is a delight to watch.

3. 1992 – Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander – Winning Moment

The movie was comical, romantic, and motivational as well. The climax when Aamir Khan won was the highlight of the movie.

It is the fact that BSA bicycles sales went up after the release of the movie.

4. 1993 – Baazigar – When Shilpa Shetty is thrown off the roof

Baazigar movie which made Shah Rukh Khan a household name, and a popular screen name. The dialogue of the films are still very popular and a catchphrase for people who somehow lose to things in life.

They save themselves by saying ‘Har ke jeetne wale ko, baazigar kehte hai’.

Remember the scene where Shah Rukh Khan pushed Shilpa Shetty off the roof. I don’t think it can be a spoiler now. No one will ever forget that scene.

5. 1994 – Hum Aapke Hain Kaun – Papad Scene

Everything in the movie was iconic and entertained the whole family during wedding ceremonies. For instance, Tuffy was loved by the audience.

For years, no wedding was complete without the ‘Didi Tera Dewar Dewaana’. And the Papad scene became the cult.

6. 1995 – Dilwale Dulhaniaa Le Jaayenge – Palat

The movie is a milestone in romance drama. A guidebook to how to get a girl, and how to know whether-a-girl-loves-you tips.

The Raj and Simran became immortal for fans, and the iconic Palat scene became the pious test to know the love factor.

7. 1996 – Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi – Undertaker scene 

Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi shows Rekhaji and Akshay Kumar as a couple. The movie pulled out a huge publicity stunt by filming a scene with an imposter of The Undertaker.

There was a huge debate for years about the fight between Akshay Kumar and The Undertaker.

8. 1997 – Border – When Suniel Shetty said “Ye dharti meri maa hai sir, isne meri maa ko gaali di hai”

Border has many scenes that are iconic in itself. However, a scene where Suniel Shetty fights with Mathura Das because he abuses the conditions of Rajasthan.

The dramatic scene ends with the dialogue ‘Ye dharti meri maa hai sir, isne meri maa ko gaali di hai.’

9. 1998 – Kuch Kuch Hota Hai – When Anjali leaves

Apart from Rahul Anjali’s fight, the movie has another memorable scene where Anjali leaves because Rahul was dumb and he never understood that Anjali was feeling something for him.

10. 1999 – Taal – When Aishwarya reminds Anil Kapoor about the contract

Taal was another masterpiece from the Showman Shubhash Ghai. Everything from the movie is memorable from its songs to the dance moves.

The scene where Anil Kapoor taunts Aishwarya Rai about her past with Akshaye Khanna and Aishwarya shuts him up. The scene was very satisfying to watch again and again.

11. 2000 – Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai – When Rohit sees Sonia do makeup at the traffic signal

The movie was the grand debut of Hrithik Roshan in Bollywood. All of the scenes, songs, and dance steps are awesome in the movie.

The first meeting of Rohit and Sonia in the traffic signal was most iconic though.
