Alia Bhatt is one of the popular faces in the Bollywood industry and considered a bankable Bollywood star. Her debut film ‘Student of the Year’ was directed by Karan Johar and it was a smash hit.
Throughout her career, she became very selective about her film choices and got recognition as a great actress with movies like Highway, Raazi, Udta Punjab, and 2 States.
Even Alia has faced the ups and downs in her career with movies like Shandaar and Kalank. But there’s no doubt that she is one of the finest actresses in her generation with amazing acting skills and camera presence.
One special trivia about this actress is that she has done many blockbuster Bollywood films but she has also denied a lot of blockbuster films.
We have enlisted some films that have done quite well at the box office but Alia Bhatt has denied these roles.
1. Alia Bhatt was the first choice to play the title character of Neerja Bhanot in Neerja
Sonam Kapoor got a lot of appreciation for playing Neerja Bhanot in the movie Neerja. The movie was a biopic that shows the incident of Neerja’s bravery as she managed to rescue people from the hijacked plane. Sonam Kapoor looked fabulous in Neerja.
The role was first offered to Alia Bhatt. Makers confirmed that Sonam Kapoor was not the first choice to play the character of Neerja Bhanot.
However, one of the producers was not convinced to make Alia the lead because of Alia’s height. Filmmakers thought, Alia is quite short to play an air-hostess.
2. Alia Bhatt was offered the role of the main lead in Raabta
The female lead of Raabta was supposed to play by Alia Bhatt instead of Kriti Sanon. Alia walked out of the movie because of date issues.
Sources cleared that she gave her dates to Karan Johar’s Shuddhi which was also stalled due to some reasons.
It would be lovely to see Alia Bhatt in a movie like Raabta. The movie was more like a costume drama and makers worked hard for the film.
However, the film released with the cast of Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon and got mixed reviews from critics as well as fans.
3. Alia was approached to play the ghost in Golmaal Again
The fourth installment of the Golmaal series made huge numbers on box-office. Parineeti Chopra played the character of the ghost in the movie.
Little you know that the character played by Parineeti was offered to Alia Bhatt first. Before Rohit Shetty made the official announcement of the making, Alia backed out from the movie due to date clashes.
It was reported that there was tension between Alia Bhatt and Rohit Shetty after Alia said no to Rohit’s film. Karan Johar came between these two and helped them sort it out.
Maybe in the future, we will see Alia Bhatt working in the Rohit Shetty’s movies and the Golmaal series will be continued to come.
4. Alia refused the movie Saaho because of less screen time
The movie ‘Saaho’ released in 2019 and got a positive response from the audience as well as critics. The film released with the cast of south superstar Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor.
However, makers were thinking to cast Alia Bhatt as the female lead in the movie.
Alia Bhatt refused the role because of the less screen time of the female lead. The role was then offered to Shraddha Kapoor.
The movie was a big commercial hit and everybody praised the character played by Shraddha Kapoor.
5. The character of Zafira in the Thugs Of Hindostan was offered to Alia Bhatt
Thugs of Hindostan was a multi-starrer movie featuring Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role.
Alia Bhatt was offered to play the female lead in the movie but she refused the role realizing that the female protagonist has nothing much to do in the movie.
The role of Zafira was then offered to Dangal fame actress Fatima Sana Sheikh. The movie failed to leave any mark on box-office. Aamir Khan apologized to fans for coming up with such movies.
However, it will be considered one of the gems in Bollywood as it featured Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan sharing screen space together.
