90’s TV stars living anonymous life

TV serials have an enormous impact on our society which impacts both the mind and thought process of an individual. We are always inspired by our favorite TV shows and their characters. It’s astonishing how we get emotionally attached to these fictional charterers in a short period. Though there have been innumerable TV serials produced till now, there were many serials from the 90s that managed to impress the audience and still resides in the heart of many. 

It’s astonishing how these shows and its characters used to rule the hearts of many but got lost in the darkness and live the life of oblivion today. Let’s have a look:

Mukesh Khanna – Shaktimaan 

Shaktimaan is an Indian Hindi-language superhero television show that aired on DD 1 from 13 September 1997 to 27 March 2005. Producer Mukesh Khanna played the role of Shaktimaan and his alter ego “Pandit Gangadhar Vidhyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastri”, a photographer for the newspaper Aaj Ki Aawaz. Shaktimaan was depicted as a human who has attained superhuman powers through meditation and five elements of nature: Space, Earth, Air, Fire, Water. The character of Mukesh Khanna was deeply loved by all especially children and was the first-ever Indian superhero series.

The show was followed by Shaktimaan: The Animated Series in 2011, and a television film titled Hamara Hero Shaktimaan in 2013. In 2019, Mukesh Khanna revealed through his YouTube channel that the show had to be canceled because the high broadcasting charges were bringing him losses, and not due to complaints of children imitating stunts from the show as popularly believed. He may be away from the limelight today but his work has not decreased.

Even at the age of 60, he is working continuously. He has been away from acting career for almost 8 years. But now Mukesh Khanna is running his own production house. Apart from this, he also has an acting institute.

Cezanne KhanKasautii Zindagii Kay

Kasautii Zindagii Kay is an Indian television series created by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms on Star Plus. The show ran for seven years and starred Shweta Tiwari, Cezzane Khan, Ronit Roy, and Urvashi Dholakia, who portrayed Prerna Sharma, Anurag Basu, Rishabh Bajaj, and Komolika Majumdar. The show explored the story of Anurag and Prerna who were meant to fall in love yet separated throughout their lives and achieved union only after death.

Cezanne Khan gained immense popularity from the show and after which he was known by a different name altogether – Anurag Basu. His shy and meek character in the movie was something worth remember and post the show, he appeared in several other TV soap operas and faded into oblivion.

Shikha Swaroop – Chandrakanta 

Chandrakanta is an Indian fantasy television series partly based on Devaki Nandan Khatri’s novel of the same name. It was originally telecast on DD National between 1994 and 1996 and was created, written, produced, and directed by Nirja Guleri. The serial was pulled off the air by Doordarshan in 1996 and the producers had to file a suit in court for reinstatement. Reruns of the show also aired on Star Plus and Sony Entertainment Television. Though there were innumerable characters in the show, Shikha Swaroop as Princess Chandrakantaa was immensely loved by everyone and remains in memory. She also played the role of Kaikeyi in the Zee TV show Ramayan.

Though it has been a long time since the release of the show, but her fans are still engaged in sharing her pictures on social media handles and continue to praise the beauty.

Arun GovilRamayan 

Ramayan is an Indian historical-drama epic television series, which aired during 1987-1988, created, written, and directed by Ramanand Sagar. The remake of Ramayan series was again presented by Sagar Arts and which aired on NDTV Imagine in 2008. Ramayan introduced the concept of Hindu epics to Indian Television and went on to become a national classic, it was aired on Zee TV in the mid-’90s. Also, it was aired on Star Plus and Star Utsav in the 2000s. 

It is a television adaptation of the ancient Indian Hindu epic of the same name and is primarily based on Valmiki’s Ramayan and Tulsidas’ Ramcharitmanas. The actor Arun Govil played Lord Rama and his impeccable acting skills were worth a watch. He even won the Uptron Award in the Best Actor in a Leading Role category in 1988. 

Gajendra ChauhanMahabharat 

Mahabharat is an Indian television series based on the Hindu epic of the same name. The 94-episode Hindi series had its original run from 2 October 1988 to 15 July 1990 on DD National. It was produced by B. R. Chopra and directed by his son, Ravi Chopra. The music was composed by Raj Kamal. The script was written by the Urdu poet Rahi Masoom Raza, based on the original story by Vyasa.

Gajendra Singh Chauhan has been known professionally as Gajendra Chauhan is an actor known for his work on Indian television, especially his portrayal of Yudhishthira in the historical television series Mahabharat (1988–90). He has also had significant roles in a few B movies, and a larger number of cameo appearances in other films. In 2015, he was appointed chairman of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), which sparked controversy and opposition by FTII students, leading to his resignation in October 2017. He was also seen in the serial Sankatmochan Mahabali Hanuman where he played the role of Sumant.

Shweta Kawatra – Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii 

Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii is a Hindi-language Indian soap opera on Indian television which ran on Star Plus from October 16, 2000, to October 9, 2008. The soap opera was created by Ekta Kapoor and was produced by her production company Balaji Telefilms. The show starred Sakshi Tanwar and Kiran Karmarkar as the lead protagonists. 

The show explored the worlds of Parvati and Om Agarwal, living in a Marwadi joint family where Parvati is an ideal daughter-in-law of Agarwal family and Om the ideal son. The show is the story of the sons of Vishwanath Agarwal and their children thereof. The show also had Shweta Kawatra/ Achint Kaur who played the role of Pallavi Agarwal as the major supporting cast. Apart from this, Shweta Kawatra was also seen as Nivedita in Kumkum. She has had appearances in many other TV serials, most notably in C.I.D. and played Bhayankar Pari in Baal Veer.

Her performance in the serial Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii was immensely loved by all and we still wish to see more of this beauty. Right??
