9 Movies That Were Turned Down By Kajol

Kajol is one of the most celebrated Indian actresses in the Bollywood industry. She has done many iconic roles and won millions of hearts with her acting skills and camera presence.

However, Kajol lost many opportunities for not accepting some popular roles.

Kajol is considered to be one of the most talented actresses that Bollywood has ever seen. She too is guilty of rejecting some fine roles while accepting some terrible ones.

Here are some films which were originally offered to Kajol but she turned them down.

Karishma Kapoor’s role in Shakti-The Power

Some roles suited Kajol’s personality. One of them is Karishma’s character in Shakti – The Power. Shakti is the Hollywood remake of ‘Not without my daughter’. Well, filmmakers also wanted to cast Kajol and they approached her.

Sadly Kajol turned down the role and the rumors were spread in the B=town that Ajay was not approving her to do another movie with Shah Rukh Khan.

Zaara in Veer-Zaara

Little do you know that Yash Raj Chopra was very excited to cast the hit pair of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in his romantic flick Veer Zaara. Sadly, Kajol said no to the movie due to some unknown reason.

However, Preeti did a fabulous job as Zaara in the movie. Well, fans would go crazy if Yash Raj movie had the much-talked pair in his movie.

Nisha’s role in Dil Toh Pagal Hai

It might seem a bit awkward imagining Kajol in the role brilliantly portrayed by Karishma Kapoor. But the fact is, Karishma was not the first choice to play the second lead in the movie.

The role was offered to many actresses like Juhi and Kajol before. They both turned down the role because they didn’t want to play the second lead.

Rani Mukherjee’s role in Chalte Chalte

Chalte Chalte is a romantic masterpiece and there was much discussion to select the female lead opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the movie.

First Aishwarya Rai was roped in but due to shooting issues, she had to leave the film. Later Kajol was considered but she denied. Then the movie was made with Rani Mukherji in the lead role.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s role in Mohabbatein

Mohabbatein is heavily inspired by Hollywood’s Dead Poet Society. However, the Indian flavor was added in the movie with two big names in the industry SRK and Big B.

The role of Megha was offered to Kajol but Kajol was busy with other projects. Aaditya Chopra left with no option to cast another actress for the role.

Manisha Koirala’s role in Dil Se…

Dil Se… is an evergreen movie with its soulful music. Manisha Koirala has given her career-best performance in the movie.

But, if Kajol would have agreed to play Manisha’s character in the movie then it would be mesmerizing to watch Kajol as a terrorist from Kashmir.

And we all would witness another movie from the hit Jodi of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.

Rani’s role in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna

It looks like every movie of Shah Rukh Khan was offered first to Kajol and later it went to other actresses.

The character played by Rani Mukherjee in the movie was first offered to Kajol. She turned down the project because of date issues.

Manisha Koirala’s role in Khamoshi – The Musical

Another movie of Manisha Koirala which was appreciated by critics and still famous for its songs was first offered to Kajol. Kajol would surely steal the show if she played the character of Annie.

Kajol’s expressions would bring some different elements and it was expected that Kajol can give too many things to the character to make it believable in front of the camera instead of just looking cute in each frame.

Kareena Kapoor Khan’s character in 3 Idiots

While some believe that Kajol was too old to play the role of Pia in the Bollywood blockbuster 3 Idiot, it is very clear that Kajol can hide her experience very well and we have already seen it in Dilwale.

If she agreed to do the movie then the movie would be on some different height.

However, Kareena impressed everyone with her performance in the movie. It is still unclear why she refused to be part of the film which has this much potential.
