Saroj Khan was born on November 22, 1948, and she passed away at the age of 71. She has lived gloriously 71 years on Earth. Little you know that Saroj Khan wasn’t her real name. Her real name was Nirmala Nagpal.
Saroj Khan started her career when she was only 3 years old. She had performed as a backup dancer in the 50s.
As we all know Saroj Khan is one of the most sought choreographers in Hindi cinema. People from the industry used to call her Masterji.
Whether it can be considered as the record or something but Saroj Khan was very passionate about dancing and she was asked to choreograph 2,000 plus songs in 35 years.
Saroj Khan started working in the industry as a choreographer in the early 70s. She became famous for giving many hook steps and she became the household name by the mid-80s in the industry.
She was very famous for working with female superstars like Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit. Saroj Khan was very fond of Madhuri Dixit, and on Madhuri’s birthday, she had posted a pic of her teaching Madhuri the steps of ‘Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai’.

Saroj Khan started her career as a choreographer back in 1974 when she was preparing dance numbers for the movie Geeta Mera Naam.
Furthermore, she has also choreographed the song sequences of the Tamil movie Thai Veedu in 1983. In the same year, she also directed songs in Subhash Ghai’s movie Hero.
She became famous after the release of 1986’s movie Nagina. The iconic song ‘Main nagin tu sapera’ and the energetic dance routine in the song performed by Sridevi became the popular Naagin dance and continued to be a big part in most of the parties and wedding dances.
In addition to famous Naagin dance, she has also choreographed Sridevi in another famous song Hawa Hawaii in Mr. India.
Saroj Khan won national awards thrice in her career. She won for the song ‘Dola re Dola’ from Devdas.
Back in 2006, Saroj Khan won the award for all the songs in the Tamil movie Sringaram.
She got awards for best choreography for the song ‘Yeh Ishq Haaye’ from Jab We Met which was filmed on Kareena Kapoor.
In recent years, she was very choosy with her projects. Last year, she had choreographer Kangana Ranaut and Madhuri Dixit in Manikarnika and Kalank respectively.
From the last few weeks, she had complained of breathing problems due to which she was admitted to Mumbai’s Guru Nanak Hospital.
She was diabetic, and even though she had tested negative coronavirus, she was experiencing many health issues.
