2020 Movies With Lowest IMDB Ratings.

While this ongoing worldwide pandemic, COVID-19 has taught us many new things, ranging from our safety to the changes in our lifestyle, there are certainly many other changes that have happened during this pandemic.

While we always had the craze of the films being released in theaters and eagerly waited for Fridays to come, this pandemic has made all the movies release most of its movies on OTT platforms in the year 2020. While there were innumerable movies and series to binge-watch on various OTT platforms, it doesn’t truly mean that all of them were good.

While these platforms gave us a sigh of relief by literally passing our time during the lockdown period in the COVID-19 pandemic, some movies truly had been regretful and let us down. So, let us have a look at some of the worst IMDB rated Bollywood movies in the year 2020.

Sadak 2

This list has been topped by the movie Sadak 2 which was released on 12 August 2020. The movie was directed by the famous director, Mahesh Bhatt, and produced by Mukesh Bhatt. Though we had some “hopes” from the trailer of this movie, certainly because of the old movie Sadak, this turned out to be the worst films ever made in the year 2020.

The IMDB rated the movie with only 1.1 stars and was a flop. This movie despite having actors like Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, and Aditya Roy Kapoor failed to justify this sequel and crashed at the box office.

Coolie No.1

The recently released movie coolie no. 1 starring Varun Dhawan, Sara Ali Khan, and Paresh Rawal in the lead roles, is a remake of the 1995 film of the same name. The remake of this film was released recently this Christmas in 2020 on Amazon Prime Video. Though the film was supposed to be released theatrically on 1 May 2020, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

These films were directed by David Dhawan and the original film was one of the first successful movies of Karisma Kapoor. The acting of Govinda in the original movie is still remembered by the fans. However, its remake failed drastically to create that magic again. The IMDB rated this movie with only 1.3 stars making it the second most flop movie of the year 2020.

Indoo Ki Jawani

Though the actress Kiara Advani is looking extremely cute and beautiful in the trailer of the movie, this could not help the movie to make it big on the box office and was a mere flop with ratings of 1.4 by IMDB. The remake of the song “Saawan Mein lag gyi aag” got a bit popular amongst the DJ tracks being played in the current parties but this movie failed to create its magic with the obsessive use of dating apps which didn’t fit well with the audience. Despite a series of hit movies given by the actress Kiara Advani, this movie certainly turned the audience down.

Gul Makai

A biographical drama film, Gul Makai starring Reem Shaikh, Pankaj Tripathi, Divya Dutta, and other well-known stars, this movie failed to create an impression at the box office. This film was the last appearance of the late actor Om Puri and was released last year in January 2020.

The movie showcased the life and the struggles of Pakistani activist, Malala Yousafzai played by the debutante Reem Shaikh. Though the trailer looked promising and gave us hopes, the film was not a hit amongst the audience and was rated 2.1 by IMDB.

Baaghi 3

It is truly said that “old is gold”. It is a well-known fact that the quality and success of a film tends to degrade with its installments. This movie was the third installment in the Baaghi trilogy and features Tiger Shroff, Riteish Deshmukh, Shraddha Kapoor, and Ankita Lokhande in lead roles.

This 2020 film directed by Ahmed Khan, was a remake of the Tamil film Vettai. Though this movie became the second highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2020, it failed the expectations of the viewers and was rated 2.1 by IMDB. This movie depicted the same old action by the actor Tiger Shroff and had nothing new in comparison to the plots of its first two parts.

This movie helped the actor Sharad Kelkar to gain immense popularity amongst the audience where his performance as a “transgender” was loved by all. Though the movie had a different plot and excellent performances by both the actors Akshay Kumar and Sharad Kelkar and even was an eye-opener for the society, but the comical way in which the film was depicted turned the whole movie down. This movie was rated 2.3 by IMDB.

This movie was certainly one of the most awaited projects of Akshay Kumar which became popular even before its release. However, its plot of a transgender ghost was not expected and was disappointing. The movie was released digitally through Disney+ Hotstar on 9 November 2020, across India, making it the first big-budget Indian film to release on a streaming platform.

Khaali Peeli

The movie got into a controversy with the song “Beyonce Sharma Jaegi” even before its release for being contrasted with Beyoncé’s “Brown Skin” which ultimately turned into racism. Then later, this was settled by changing the spellings of the title from Beyonce to beyonce. Not only the film was disliked by the fans but this song received a negative response on this song with around 1 million dislikes within its first week on YouTube.

Khaali Peeli was the second movie for the actor after “dhadak” and the third film for Ananya Pandey. The movie had a rating of 2.4 on IMDB.

Durgamati: The Myth

The actress Bhumi Pednekar has attained a good position in Bollywood within a short period. Her performances in various blockbuster hits like toilet: Ek prem Katha and Dum Laga Ke haisha helped her emerge as a star. While we just can’t help ourselves praising the actress, this movie turned us down. The film depicts Bhumi as a bureaucrat, who for an interrogation gets imprisoned in a haunted house. And as expected in any other horror drama, she gets possessed by the mansion’s spirit. The film has a rating of 3.8 on IMDB.

Ghost Stories

Currently, the trend of short films has increased in Bollywood. After the success of the film Ludo or Lust stories, this trend is being loved by the audience. The film Ghost Stories was also on the same track with four different stories directed by some of the famous Bollywood directors Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee, and Anurag Kashyap. The film was divided into four short horror segments each being directed by one director with a different plot and entirely different star cast. This movie had a rating of 4.3 on IMDB and failed to impress the audience.

Love Aaj Kal

The last and the final flop of 2020 is the movie Love Aaj Kal. The trend of borrowing films in Bollywood has been followed for ages. The Bollywood industry is often known to “dupe” from various Hollywood and Tollywood movies. However, there are times when Bollywood remade its classics!

Where some of the classics managed to make it huge in Bollywood, most of these remakes were mere a flop at the box office and are even said to ruin those cult classics. Similarly, the movie Love Aaj Kal was the remake of the film with the same name, and with the progression of the plot, nothing quite made sense in the movie. The movie was directed by Imtiaz Ali with Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aryan in the lead roles. The movie is rated 5 by IMDB.
