1. Ranveer Singh as Maratha Peshwa Bajirao

One of the most ambitious projects of Sanjay Leela Bhansali was Bajirao Mastani. In the movie, Ranveer played the fiery Maratha Peshwa Bajirao. Ranveer completely nailed the Marathi look and the dialect too. The movie was one of the biggest hits of 2015. 

2. Prithviraj Kapoor as Emperor Akbar

Mughal-E-Azam became a cult in Bollywood. The movie showed a romantic tale of Saleem and Anarkali. However, the larger portion of the story focused on the tragic father-son relationship between Saleem and Emperor Akbar. In K Asif’s masterpiece, Dilip Kumar played the prince Saleem while Prithviraj Kapoor portrayed Emperor Akbar.

Little do you know that Sunil Dutt portrayed the great Magadh Samrat Ajatashatru in the 1966’s movie Amrapali. The movie showed the story of Amrapali, the royal courtesan of Vaishali in ancient India around 500 BC.
